About Beam-Splitter Rigs Whether you’re planning to shoot a feature film, music video or commercial in 3D, a stereoscopic beam-splitter is more than a luxury, it's a necessity. Designed specifically for medium and close-up 3D shots, beam-splitter rigs accommodate images where the closest focal point is equal to, or less than approximately 15-20 ft. Using a side-by-side rig at such distances causes little more than eye-strain and headaches. That’s why we developed the 3D-BS INDIE & 3D-BS PRO Rigs. These easy-to-use, fully-adjustable dual camera systems eliminate the restriction of how close you can get to a subject when filming in stereo, while maintaining pristine picture quality and precise alignment. With a horizontal camera shooting ‘through the glass’ and a vertical camera shooting ‘off the glass’, both cameras (left eye & right eye) can share part, or all, of the image area. Both rigs offer adjustable inter-axial (camera-to-camera) distances (0” to 6”), and convergence settings (1° to 5°). You can feel confident that our beam-splitter rigs give you all the necessary tools to create amazing, comfortable 3D. Camera mounts glide easily into optimal inter-axial position and lock firmly. Lightweight, nearly indestructable anodized aluminum frame, with easy-carry handles. Equipped with optically engineered, high-grade beam-splitter glass. Entire rig is fully modifiable and adjustable, easily disassembling in minutes. Mirror Box is constructed of light-dampening, detachable plastic. Base-plate easily attaches the Pro rig to most professional tripod plates (75 lb. rating recommended).
